Stephen was born 1827 in Brede Sussex England. (Son of Edmund Furner and Mary Mavery) He married in 1853 West Maitland NSW to Ellen Schollard Born in 1834 at Bally Haly Co Limerick Ireland. She arrived in 1852 on the Ship 'Agincourt' .
